It's May already and that means Mother's Day is just around the corner. In case you haven't already figured it out, we're spending some time celebrating all the mom's out there this month here at Fixate Designs and so we thought it was the perfect time to put the spotlight on one of our own.
Chelsea Peterson is not your average mom. The southern California native is part of the most-successful motorcycle hill-climb team on the planet and has competed at the highest level. Peterson and her husband Bret, a multi-time national champion, compete in the North American Hillclimbers Association aboard high performance KTM factory-backed dirt bikes. “I grew up around the sport,” said the twenty-something Peterson. “My dad, Johnny Sailors, raced my whole life and that is where I met my husband. It’s a very family oriented sport and it usually involves multiple generations.”
Chelsea competes in the Women’s Pro class and is considered one of the best. “She is extremely competitive,” said team owner Kerry Peterson, himself a five-time Hillclimb World Champion. “She has done very well and sets the bar really high for herself.”
“She doesn’t look like your average dirt bike racer,” said Ken Faught, former editor-in-chief of Dirt Rider magazine, the number one off-road motorcycle publication in the world. “Her talents helped her get factory-backed support from Austrian manufacturer KTM, and the team has a NASCAR style semi that they use as base camp on the national circuit.”
“I absolutely love the sport,” she added. “It is a complete lifestyle, and we want our son Drake to start riding as soon as he gets a little bigger. I have a feeling that he will be riding before he enters kindergarten.”
When she is not riding or racing, Chelsea works for Titan SEO in San Diego, an advertising and marketing agency that helps companies increase website traffic.
